Finding great mother-of-the dresses can be a daunting challenge for women. It seems as if there is no middle ground. On one side, there are plenty of matronly matching sets. On the other, a sea of uncomfortably youthful special occasion wear. What’s a woman supposed to do?! Have it made. Naturally! Meet Amy, owner of Stitches and Sips 716. She’s one of our newest members and loves working with “the backup singers,” as she lovingly calls the mothers and bridesmaids! Stitches and Sips 716 creates custom wedding party and mothers’ dresses for special occasions. Let’s learn a little bit more about her and see what she has to offer!

The Stitches and Sips Experience
I started sewing in high school. My humanities class gave us six weeks to do something we had always wanted to, but never had the time to do. As a result, I’ve been creating garments ever since! My degree is in education and I assist college students on the spectrum or with ADHD in keeping academically organized. The sewing room has always been my escape. I make dresses for wedding guests and for bridesmaids, including my own! I love the search for the perfect fabric and allowing the fabric to speak to me on what it wants to become.
Everyone is unique and has their own individual styles. Nothing about your wedding should be cookie cutter! I design and make custom wedding party and mothers dresses that are comfortable and elegant. Envisioning and dreaming is where the process starts. My goal is to create dresses that are truly special and treasured. My clients confidence is the utmost importance to me.
The process of designing and constructing allows for changes to make a piece a one-of-a-kind. I believe that love is love and take a very personal approach to my craft. We work very closely over the course of a couple of months to plan and construct the vision. I love working with out-of-the-box thinkers and our community is the perfect place to find them!
I also offer alterations as I can accommodate them. Another fun fact – the name Stitches and Sips 716 is because I’m located in Buffalo NY, and I make my own wine, too!
