DIY: Fringe Earrings

When I saw these adorable earrings on Pinterest, I knew I had to give them a try! I made a few material adjustments to make them unique and true to my style. They earrings are so funky and easy to make- how cool would it be to wear earrings that you made yourself on your wedding day?! They would also be such a thoughtful, handmade bridesmaid gift or a great craft to do with your girls!

What you’ll need: scissors, wire cutters/needle-nose pliers, earring posts, 2 bead cones, wire (20g works best for this craft!), beads, and cotton braiding cord.

You can get really creative when it comes to the cord and the beads. For this DIY, I used cotton braiding cord. For the red earrings above, I used hemp cord. Pick any beads & colors you want!

Step 1: Cut your cord into 6, 5-7 inch pieces. You can make these as long or as short as you’d like your earrings, but remember, this piece will be folded in half so measure the length with the piece folded.

Step 2: Tie a knot at one end of the cord. String on 12-14 beads. Again, the amount of beads is totally up to you! It just depends on how “full” you’d like your earrings.

Step 3: Once you have your beads on, knot the other end of the cord. Separate the beads into two even sections.

Step 4: Continue string beads and separating them with the rest of your cords.

Step 5: Cut a piece of wire about 6 inches long. Fold the wire under your pieces that are folded in half.

Step 6:

Wrap one end of the wire around the other, leaving one piece sticking out.

Step 7: Place a bead cone over the wire. If you’d like, add another bead.

Step 8: Using your pliers, form a loop at the top, wrapping the wire around itself for a secure loop.

Step 9: Attach your earring post!
