“I had many connections through online dating, but none seemed to make that everlasting connection that I was searching for until Jerry. He was unlike all others and preferred to get to know me, before we met. We were matched in late November and despite the distance of Jerry being in Toronto, we saw each other every weekend for the next year.”

“I had always wanted to wear my grandma Carmella’s wedding dress. From a young girl, till her passing, she has always been my best friend. A close friend recommended made by anatomy to recreate my dress, and through precision and attention to detail, I was able to keep the dress my grandmother’s, yet make it mine too. Our wedding cake, by Muscoreil’s, even incorporated the embroidery on my wedding dress. I also decided to make a brooch bouquet using many of my grandmother’s brooches and earrings, as well as brooches from my bridesmaids and flower girls.”

“Although Jerry was born in Toronto, his parents are originally from the state of Kerala, in India. First, Jerry’s mother bought me a wedding sari, which is called a manthrakodi and acts as a symbol of protection and acceptance of the bride into the new family. It was blessed during the mass, and worn at the wedding reception. Jerry also changed into a sarwani, which is an Indian traditional groom’s outfit. At the church, I was presented with a thali, which is an Indian necklace that was blessed and placed on me by Jerry. The heart symbolizes the concept of love, and the cross reflects that the relationship between husband and wife should be in the image of the relationship between Jesus and the Church. The groom ‘ties the knot’ around the bride’s neck. This signifies the lifelong inseparable bond established in marriage.”
