A Proposal Straight Out of a Fairytale

Steve knew he wanted to propose to Rachel in a way that would be both personal and unforgettable. On July 30, 2022, during a private tour of the Niagara Aquarium, a sea lion held up a buoy with the words “Will you marry me?” written on it. When Rachel turned around, Steve was down on one knee. She, of course, said yes! Their engagement was as unique and heartfelt as their love story, setting the tone for a wedding filled with meaningful details and magical moments.

The Wedding Vision: A Rustic Fairytale in the Fall

When planning their wedding, Steve and Rachel had one clear vision: a rustic fairytale set in the heart of autumn and the venue was the most important element in the planning process. They wanted warm colors, a cozy yet elegant atmosphere, and a venue that truly captured the essence of the season. After exploring their options, they found their dream location—Twin Silos in Livonia, NY.

A Dreamy Fall Wedding Day

On October 12, 2024, surrounded by 130 of their closest family and friends, Steve and Rachel’s wedding day unfolded beautifully. With the rolling fields of Twin Silos serving as the perfect backdrop, every detail—from the stunning florals to the rustic barn reception—reflected their love for the season and each other.

The Attire: Classic Elegance Meets Personal Style

Rachel found her dream dress at @dalias_bridal in Williamsville, NY. The gown was a perfect blend of romance and sophistication, complementing the warm, autumnal theme of the wedding. Steve opted for a custom tuxedo he found on Etsy, showcasing his unique style while keeping things classic. Their wedding party followed suit with seasonal tones and elegant silhouettes, making for stunning photos captured by @amandamouwphotography.

Florals & Decor: Bringing the Vision to Life

The floral arrangements, created by @geneseevalleyflorist, brought warmth and depth to the venue. Karyn, the florist, worked closely with Rachel to design bouquets and centerpieces filled with deep reds, burnt oranges, and soft neutrals, perfectly complementing the autumn landscape.

A Personal Touch on the Details

Rachel designed the wedding invitations herself using Canva, adding a personal and creative touch to their stationery. The couple also made sure to incorporate thoughtful details throughout the day, making it feel truly their own.

The Most Memorable Moments

While the entire day was magical, a few moments stood out for the couple. For Steve, seeing Rachel walk down the aisle was the most unforgettable part. For Rachel, their first dance as husband and wife was the highlight of the evening.

The Reception: Great Food, Music & Celebration

A Feast to Remember

Food was a key part of their celebration, and the couple chose @stickylipsbbq from Rochester, NY, to cater their reception. The guests raved about the delicious, comforting BBQ spread, which fit perfectly with the rustic vibe of the wedding.

Sweet Treats & Cake

For dessert, @woltersbakery created a stunning wedding cake and an assortment of treats for guests to enjoy. The flavors, inspired by fall spices and classic favorites, were a hit among attendees.

Dancing the Night Away

DJ @buffaluv_soundz (Chris Morris) kept the energy high throughout the evening, playing a mix of classics and crowd favorites that kept everyone on the dance floor.

A Unique Pre-Wedding Experience

One of the special aspects of their wedding journey was their decision to do “Night Before” wedding photos with @stately.photos (Olivia D’Amato). Capturing the quiet anticipation before the big day, these photos added another beautiful chapter to their love story.

The Team That Made It Happen

Though they planned much of the wedding themselves, Steve and Rachel relied on Megan Fieldman, the venue owner at Twin Silos, as their day-of coordinator.

Hair and makeup were done by @mckenzie.mosher, who created a natural yet elegant bridal look that lasted from the ceremony through the last dance.

Words of Wisdom for Future Couples

Looking back, Rachel and Steve have some advice for other engaged couples: “Take your time and weigh all your options. Pick what YOU want; no matter how unusual you think your request is, someone somewhere will be willing to accommodate!”

They also wish they had known just how many opinions they would receive during the planning process. “Everyone and their mother will have something to say, but when the day comes, you’ll be glad you chose what you wanted.”
